Fall Pottery Classes:
The winter classes will cover basic instruction in decoration, glazing and firing pottery. Open to ages 13 and up. Fall class dates and times:
Tuesday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Jan. 12 to Mar. 16, 2010, Mike Carroll
Wednesday daytime, 10:00 -12:30 pm
Jan. 13 to Mar. 17, 2010, Brooke Millechia
Thursday evenings, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Fee: 236.00 for 10 week class
The classes will include a 25/22 lb. bag of clay, the firing and glaze materials. The studio has tools and brushes for student use. Participants should bring a small bucket and an old towel. Open studio time is on Saturdays from 9:30 until 3:45.

The Coil Bowl
Join Trisha Koomen two Saturday mornings to learn the coil, handbuilding technique. Our goal will be a functional serving bowl form (1 or more).
Coiling is a very satisfying and practical method of forming clay and can be used alone or with thrown work.
Date and time: Saturday, February 13th and 20th, 9:30 am to noon.

Slip Trailing Workshop, Re-Scheduled:
Mark Presher, the master potter at the Genesee Country Museum, will demonstrate the techniques he uses to recreate 19th century stoneware pottery for the museum. The evening will include simple brushwork and trailing methods, and a demonstration of slip marbelizing.
Fee - $50.00, space is limited. Instructor, Mark Presher. This will be a hands-on workshop; everyone makes a dish!

The Pottery Studio
The studio has 8 electric potter’s wheels, 3 electric kilns, tile press and clay extruder. There is also a raku kiln and wood fired kiln out back. We use a stoneware clay in the classes as well as my own studio glazes and some commercial colors. There is storage for each students weekly output.
Class Materials & Open Studio
Participants can attend either the day or evening to make up an 8 week block. First come first serve, I can only provide 7 spots per individual class! Studio will be open on Saturdays for class participants - one Saturday for each class signed into. Clay will be $20 per 25 lb. of #112 or 22 lb. of Tucker Mid Sm. Stone for class participants. Clay price covers the cost of bisque, glazes and glaze firiing.
Open studio for the general public is available for a flat fee of $15 per hour. Clay, glazes and firing are not included.
